| by the looks of things i'm going to be making more rings soon... about a months time... i have a VW group buy (guage rings and accent rings) to get done. i already tried the route of CNC. doesn't work. Since all 4 rings are cut from a single 4" billet stock set up between the chuck and live center, the CNC would render 90%+ of the billet scrap and the smaller rings would need a second billet. Plus, where's the fun in letting the machine cut them? everything i've made (or copied-depending on your point of view) was worked out on paper first, then produced. I learned drafting and engineering the old way... paper and pencil. if i can get the difficult part right on paper, the fabrication is the easy and most times fun part of the whole thing.... you should see the BOV's i made...
